Dawn and Brett’s elopement was one of those wonderful days that really was exactly the wedding they’d hoped for. Cutting with tradition and with only two close friends present as their witnesses (plus little old me of course!), Brett and Dawn chose to elope in Norwich.

Fans of the 1940s, the couple chose The Control Tower near old North Create Airfield as the location to get ready for their wedding. I can’t explain how much of a lovely couple these two were, they even invited me and Flamingo Amy, their hairdresser, to stay overnight prior to the big day. Fitting the 1940’s theme perfectly, The Control Tower was a real treat for the eyes and the perfect background for wedding photographs. If you’re ever looking for a unique, atmospheric bed and breakfast in north Norfolk, I’d thoroughly recommend it.

Exchanging vows at the Norwich Registry Office at Norwich Castle. I particularly liked the poem that was read out by Leo Marks – it was so beautiful and perfect for them as it was a love poem/code written during the second world war. I have to admit I had tears in my eyes.

Before they needed to arrive for their afternoon tea we had ample time to wander around Norwich to take some couple shots. Keen collectors, Dawn and Brett were keen to visit St Gregory’s Antiques & Collectables, the most amazing antiques market in Norwich. Surrounded by beautiful neon lights, found objects and stunning furniture, it really was one of those locations that takes your breath away as a wedding photographer. It truly was a unique backdrop for wedding portraits, a real one-off that I certainly won’t forget in a hurry!

Their wedding breakfast was at Biddy’s Tea Room, Norwich, which featured lots of 1940s decor. I left them tucking into a mountain of delicious cake and popping open a bottle of champagne! Exactly how every wedding day should pan out…

“We were initially unsure about having a photographer for our small wedding as neither of us are naturals in front of the camera and didn’t want to appear stiff and posed for the pictures. Beth was a breath of fresh air making us both so at ease that we felt that we had known her for years! She has a wonderful eye for the details in an image and has such a natural air about her that you forget she is taking photographs. This resulted in some amazing and natural photographs of our wedding and we felt that the images really reflected how we wanted the day to feel. We had a marvellous day and Beth caught every part of it in such a beautiful way that when we look at the images we are transported back and can relive all those wonderful details that can sometimes be missed in all the excitement.

Thank you for sharing our day, Dawn and Brett x”
