I really enjoy shooting relaxed reportage photographs, and have the pleasure of shooting in some stunning venues. So when Laura and Nick mentioned that The Gunton Arms, Norfolk was the location for their Norfolk pub wedding reception venue, I was thrilled. Steeped in history and situated in a stunning deer park, The Gunton Arms offered the familiarity only a pub reception could offer, and the food was to die for.

I’ve photographed several DIY weddings locally, and could definitely see The Gunton Arms becoming one of my favourite places to shoot. With its gorgeous external backdrops and perfect light, not to mention the incredible artwork on display, including Damian Hurst screen prints and Tracy Emin neon artworks, it really was the ideal location for the perfect pub wedding. What’s not to love?!

The Gunton Arms itself means a lot to Laura and Nick. Laura’s sisters house sits on the Gunton Hall Estate, where she got ready and her brother in law is the Head Chef at the Gunton Arms, so it was an easy decision for the couple to host their alternative wedding here, The wedding couldn’t have been more fun to shoot.

The service and reception was decorated with gorgeous flowers and covered in super creative personal touches Laura and Nick had put together. After braving the strong winds for their couple shots, the happy couple stepped into the warmth of the pub for a warming drink. The evening was filled with so much love and good cheer and was completed by sparklers on the dance floor and a great band that really wowed the guests.

Laura and Nick are the sweetest people, so warm and inviting. This wedding really was a family affair, and it was so nice to see all the family’s hard work pay off. It was a real pleasure to document such a special day for them and their friends.
