How you can use your professional family photographs

When you think about getting professional family photographs, it’s easy to focus on the photoshoot itself – but what happens after? It is important to me as a photographer is to make sure images don’t sit on a hard drive but are printed, displayed and enjoyed.
Family photographs can be used in fun and meaningful ways that let you enjoy them every day.
Let’s get into how you can use your professional family photographs:
1. Frame Them as Wall Art
One of the best ways to showcase your professional family photographs is by framing them and turning them into artwork for your home. Why not create a gallery wall dedicated to your family? I add our latest family photo each year to a dedicated wall in our house – it’s become a tradition I really look forward to. To make the photos look unified when hung together we use the same thin black frames and mounts each year.
I find seeing those memories on display is a simple way to keep your home feeling warm and personal!
2. Create a Coffee Table Book
If you’re not one to have your family photographs on the wall creating a coffee table book filled with your family photographs is a lovely way to collate your family photographs. I have a few on the table in my sitting room for when my family come over. It’s an easy way to share your family photos in a more subtle way and I like that you can store many more images together and is an easy way to flick through your favourite moments.
It’s a fun way to keep those memories alive in a beautiful, tangible way, instead of tucked away digitally!
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
Framed family photos make wonderful, heartfelt gifts. Whether it’s for grandparents, close friends, or relatives, giving a framed family picture is an easy way to share your joy and give them something personal.
It’s simple, meaningful, and ALWAYS appreciated!

4. Design a Custom Calendar
Who else loves a personalised calendar? Whether for your own home or as a gift, a personalised calendar is a great way to enjoy your favourite family memories throughout the year. My partner likes to give his parents a calendar with a photo of our son heading each month. They love that every month they have a different photo of their grandson smiling at them, probably being cheeky.
5. Start a Family Album
There’s something timeless about a good old-fashioned photo album. Take your professional family photographs and create a physical album that can be passed down through generations. It’s such a wonderful way to preserve your family’s story and a special keepsake you can look through together over the years.

Your professional family photographs are meant to be enjoyed, not just stored away to collect dust! I hope you’re now feeling inspired to get creative and keep those images alive.
These ideas make sure your investment in those special moments is something you can enjoy every day.
Take this as your sign to get creative with your family photos – you’ll be so glad you did!
