Photographing The Norwich Science Festival

As a Norfolk event photographer, there are few things more exciting than being asked to photograph the Norwich Science Festival! It's an annual event that's hosted at The Forum in Norwich, and it offers an incredible range of science talks, events, comedy, and demonstrations for people of all ages.

My role photographing the Norwich Science Festival!

My job as their Norfolk event photographer was to capture elements of the festival for the organisers so that they had a body of images to use on social media, their website, and brochures. It was an exciting challenge and just the sort of event I love to photograph.

One of the things that I love most about being an event photographer is the access I get to such interesting events. I never leave having photographed an event without having learned something new. The Norwich Science Festival was no exception, and it was such a hands-on event that I was given the task of capturing as many people interacting with the stands and their exhibits as possible.

This involved photographing people holding a giant millipede, children exploring the concept of DNA, owl and bird skulls and bones, and so much more! It was a fascinating experience and one that I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of.

One of the highlights of the festival for me was when I photographed an interview with author Bonnie Garmus, who wrote Lessons in Chemistry. The audience was packed, and my brief was to capture their reactions, the author being interviewed, and the atmosphere of the event.

What I love about being an event photographer

When it comes to event photography whether it is for corporate events or networking events, I always like to try and get as much of a range of images as I can. This way I can offer my client a variety of photographs to use! I take both landscape and portrait images, as the image may need a different format depending on where it will be used.

But most importantly, as a Norfolk event photographer, I'm always looking for reactions, emotions, and feelings of participants that best sum up their experience and atmosphere of the event. And at the Norwich Science Festival, there were plenty of those to capture.

From the looks of wonder and amazement on the faces of children, as they explored the exhibits, to the engaged and interested expressions on the faces of adults as they listened to talks and participated in demonstrations, there was no shortage of moments to capture and document.

Photographing the Norwich Science Festival was incredible! It was such an exciting event to be a part of as an event photographer and a great opportunity to learn something new, capture amazing images, and be a part of an event that celebrates the wonder and excitement of science.

I can't wait for the next one!
