Voewood, Norfolk

This is one of my favourite wedding and party venues in Norfolk to photograph. Situated just outside the town of Holt in North Norfolk Voewood can be hired for several days and has accommodation for 42 guests in 17 unique bedrooms so enabling you to celebrate for the whole weekend! It is licenced for weddings and you have the choice of marrying outside in their 11 acres of gorgeous grounds or inside surrounded by fine art and stunning unique architectural details. Voewood was built in 1905 by Edward Schroeder Prior in the Arts and Crafts style. I’ve shot here a number of times and, rain or shine, every wedding is so different from each other with a whole range of backdrops. You’re spoilt for choice!

This is another of my favourites - though, actually I love each of these venues but for different reasons! Set in 100 acres of parkland, Godwick Hall and Great Barn is an hour’s drive from Norwich, and 15 miles from Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham. Offering the option to marry either in their rustic barn or the Hall, they can cater for up to 120 guests for your ceremony. Often at the weddings I’ve photographed, couples and their families like to stay in the seven bedroomed hall a few nights before and get ready there – sometimes using their outdoor pool! Surrounded by fields, it’s a very special place. The Hall is what you might describe a blank canvas, with its stunning timber beams and red brick walls, so it allows you to design the wedding you’ve always pictured.
The Electric Picture Palace, Suffolk

Located in Southwold The Electric Picture Palace is a real gem! Licensed for weddings, it seats 40 in the two-tier red velvet-seated auditorium. Upon request an organ player arises up onto the stage from below, playing music of your choice before slowly disappearing from sight again. Couples can choose for short films to be projected before their vows are exchanged to entertain guests. I’ve shot many weddings here and it’s never failed to give me goose bumps. A truly spectacular venue brimming with character and style.

The Keeper and the Dell is wonderfully secluded, outdoor wedding venue in Norfolk, a 20 minute drive from Norwich. With a capacity of up to a 100, you can take your vows in any of their beautiful outdoor spaces or in their vintage marquee. The Keeper and the Dell is nestled below woodland and you will feel you are somewhere truly unique and special. At night the acrers of land are lit up by festoon lights whilst guests are kept warm by roaring firepits as they take a rest from dancing to the wedding band.
This is a proper family run British pub, known for its excellent customer service, great food and drink and huge garden. Situated in the middle of the Golden Triangle in Norwich, it offers the perfect relaxed backdrop to a wedding. You can choose to hire part or all of the pub for your wedding reception and over two floors it can seat 110 people. Although it doesn’t have a wedding licence, its location means it’s a short drive or walk from the Norwich registry office situated at Norwich castle.

The Great Barn is a huge and truly stunning Medieval barn which comfortably seats 200 + guests. They are seated under a vaulted roof and candles set into the 180 arrow-slit windows bring warmth and a touch of magic to the space. Hales Hall is situated across the lawn and sleeps 25 + guests. It is one of the larger wedding venues in Norfolk, catering for 200+ guests, and I have shot many a wedding here. I love to photograph brides and grooms getting ready in different parts of the Hall and then the ceremony and merriment across at The Great Barn.

Your Own Back Garden!
If you have the space and love your house, why not celebrate in your very own back garden! Your legal ceremony could take place the day before, allowing you to have a friend to ‘marry’ you in the garden itself! I always think the venue you choose to marry and celebrate at will set the tone of the day itself. Where else will make you feel more relaxed as your very own back garden!
