Voewood county house near Holt is one of my favourite Norfolk wedding venues. Built in 1903 it’s a fantastic example of the Arts and Craft movement. It’s flint-covered and full of stunning artwork and beautiful items found and collected over the years adorning the walls, a perfect back drop for Emma and Nick’s colourful wedding and big party!

When Emma and Nick hired Voewood for their Humanist wedding they had it for a couple of nights so their friends and family could sleep over and start the celebrations early! It also means on the morning of the ceremony, everybody was pitching in helping to get Voewood ready for their weekday wedding, decorating signs, laying the table, hanging decorations.

Their Humanist ceremony was conducted by Dawn Rees and included a ribbon hand fastening. Beautiful details about the couple were shared by Dawn, which helped to made it a particularly personal ceremony.

I tend to shoot by myself but it’s starting to come more common that couples ask to book a second shooter so we can capture the bridesmaids and groomsmen getting ready, recording both sides of the story. I had uber talented Georgia Rachael join me as my second photographer which meant that we could get lots of shots of the build up, which was plenty at this awesome wedding.

Emma had collected all of the glasses, vases and teacups seen on the tables from charity shops, it gave a lovely mismatch feel to the décor and her friends helped fill them with beautiful flower arrangements.

I love how couples are often shocked about how many people make the effort to be at their wedding, travelling a long way, it’s a testament to the personalities and the friendships built along the way. Someone came up to me on the dance floor and said: “You wouldn’t normally get this many people at a wedding on a Wednesday, but that’s Emma and Nick!”

This was a really special wedding for a very special and much loved couple. X
