I recently shot a really lovely family holiday in North Norfolk. The family had travelled from Suffolk and wanted some special photographs of their family holiday on a beach that had become special to them. The parents didn’t fancy being photographed, they just wanted some lovely images of their girls having fun and being kids to frame for their walls. The shoot took place in a place called Mundesley, a beautiful location on the North Norfolk coast with some lovely colourful beach huts.

Family holidays are such a special time, looking back now they are some of the most vivid memories I have of my childhood. In those days (not that long ago!) there were no smartphones, just an automatic camera and a collection of bleached out shots, some featuring your mum’s thumb over the lens.

Kate has a real eye for colour and had obviously done her research as the girls were dressed in bright colours to match the beach huts, it all ended up looking like a Wes Anderson film. After capturing lots of reportage shots of the girls jumping and playing we stopped for a few groups shots, with kids looking and smiling at the lens, the kind you want to give to nan to put on her mantelpiece. We spent two hours on the beach, larking around, splashing and laughing. The girls loosened up really quickly and gotten used to being photographed, it made for a really lovely afternoon.

The family loved their images. It was a great excuse to collect some memories of a fun holiday and a special time in their lives.

Beth is a brilliant photographer. She captures people in a natural way, making them feel at ease and un-posed.  Beth took the most lovely photos of my three daughters, she even made them look as if they liked each other. Kate
