Hales Hall and The Great Barn has to be one of the most spectacular Norfolk wedding venues out there! It’s vast medieval barn commands such a presence, built in beautiful red brick with it’s vast vaulted roof and 180 arrow-slit windows you immediately feel you’re somewhere special, where better backdrop to marry in. What’s partially lovely is that the grounds can house the wedding party in the cottages on the grounds so you can treat your guests to an incredible weekend and only a few meters to walk after dancing the night away.

Laura and Jamie married at Hales Hall and The Great Barn over the May bank holiday and did just that. Over the long weekend their friends and family were spoilt to a long weekend of celebrations and high jinks.

As a wedding photographer this is just the sort of wedding venue I love to shoot at. Laura and her fantastic bridesmaids were able to get ready across the lawn from where she would be marring her love. The cottages are equally as stunning and offer an amazing backdrop to photographs, so if it was to rain (which it did!) we could pop inside and take some stunning images in the warm and without getting drenched! Before the ceremony Laura and her dad shared a beautiful moment when Laura surprised him to a first look in her wedding dress, I think when the dress goes on that is when it all really starts to feel real!

Laura wore a stunning dress from Rock the Frock Bridal which was accompanied by a beautiful netted cape with beading on her shoulders, he mum and grandmother helped her into her wedding dress.

My Associate Photographer Mark joined Jamie in the morning to capture the groomsmen activities at the pub in the morning and later joined us at Hales Hall and The Great Barn. Having Mark enabled us to get a lot more of those more candid shots of their guests relaxed, laughing and enjoying the day and so many of those moments which Jamie and Laura might not have seen.

The only drama to the day was the weather, it really couldn’t make up it’s mind, though that didn’t put a stop to the fun. Laura and Jamie were fantastic, happy to rush in and out for photos in the short moments the rain stopped and the sun came out I was able to capture some of the gorgeous grounds and backdrops Hales Hall and The Great Barn has in abundance. I was so pleased we were able to get everyone out for a shot of all the guests, this isn’t always possible especially if there is bad weather. It also meant Laura got to throw her bouquet which is always a funny moment to capture, full of energy, smiles and lots of laughter.

Have a wonderful marriage Laura and Jamie, thank you for asking Mark and I along to capture it for you.

“Beth and Mark captured our wedding day for us and we couldn’t be happier with the photos! Throughout the entire process from meeting Beth at The Most Curious Wedding Fair to the meeting days before the wedding and the day itself we were made to feel comfortable, relaxed and confident that things would go well. It felt like we had another girlfriend getting ready with us and another guest joining us during the day which lead to the most beautifully candid, natural shots of our relaxed and happy guests. Communication throughout has been brilliant not to mention all the little treats thrown in (yummy chocolates!). We are awaiting our album but have had some prints back of the day and the quality is exceptional. Couldn’t recommend Beth enough!” Laura & Jamie
