Based in Norwich I tend to mainly photograph weddings in Norfolk and Suffolk but occasionally I like to travel further afield and enjoy new backdrops, wedding venues and unique details. I’d heard about Trinity Buoy Wharf, London and had seen other wedding photographers work shot there and so had always been hoping someone would ask me to capture their wedding at this amazing wedding venue!

In their own words the new Mrs & Mr Buck describe how they met, the proposal and planning their wedding day.

CJ and I met in Pau in the south of France while we at university. The first time we actually met was at a poker game at CJ’s flat. I tagged along (uninvited) and although I had never played before I beat CJ in the last round with pocket aces. He asked for my phone number and called me as soon as I had left! By the end of our year in Pau we had planned our first trip, a month in South Africa and we have travelled as much as possible ever since. CJ proposed back where it all began, on a beautiful day in the Pyrenees.

CJ’s brother Bertie recommended Beth and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The photos have surpassed our expectations. Beth caught the special moments and the small details – she perfectly captured the emotions of the day. The photos are so vibrant and we love the documentary style. That said, it was important to our family members that we had some group/family shots and those are wonderful too! On a personal note, Beth was a joy to spend time with on our wedding day. She was relaxed and charming; she somehow remembered the names of everyone in our wedding party and put people at ease, so everyone looks happy and beautiful in our photos. I can’t compliment or thank Beth enough and I couldn’t recommend her strongly enough!

We live in London and wanted to keep our wedding local. We got married at St. Anne’s church in Whitechapel. We have a lot of history with the church; my parents, godparents and many friends were married there and my siblings and I were baptized there. Fr. Pete who married CJ and I also married my parents 35 years before. For the reception we wanted good food and a big party. We chose Trinity Buoy Wharf after going to our friends’ wedding there. We liked the industrial vibe of the area, the view of the O2 and the lighthouse. It’s a wonderful venue with lots of space and scope to make it your own. Also, we wanted a dry hire venue so that we could choose our own caterer (Eleanor Lyons – who was superb) and have an open bar.

CJ’s suit was tailor-made in Udaipur, India while we were travelling. He chose everything from the material to the cut and it was beautiful quality. My dress was from Grace Loves Lace and as soon as I tried it on, I loved it. The dress itself was handmade in Australia from a combination of French and Japanese lace. Our globetrotting outfits suited our personalities!

My wonderful mum acted as our stylist. She, with many helpers, made the orchid table decorations, the church displays and went to Trinity Buoy Wharf in the morning to make sure the tables were all set. She also made the table name cards, seating plan and hand wrote the name places. Eleanor, our caterer had beautiful mismatched antique china and gorgeous napkins, which looked perfect on our tables. The food was like a work of art itself! Harriet Parry did my bouquet, the girls’ posies and the guys’ button holes. Her flowers were amazing; wild, bohemian and beautiful. At the last minute Harriet also made me a gorgeous flower garland. Trinity Buoy Wharf is so nice it doesn’t really need much in terms of decorations. We hired some trees to contrast with the industrial surroundings and had some twinkly lights. It was stunning!

Our first dance was For Once in my Life by Stevie Wonder. We wanted a upbeat first song, nothing too serious so Stevie was perfect. We didn’t really practice our first dance, a few nights before the wedding we had a little dance in the kitchen and CJ dropped me while attempting a backwards dip. After that, we decided to keep it simple.

Huge thanks to Eddy and CJ for taking the time to tell us about their wedding experience. Wishing you both a wonderful life together xx
