Family photo shoots are an investment! When you book a photo shoot you don't want to be worrying that your child won't pose for a family photo shoot. As a parent of a young child myself, I understand! We can never predict if our child will decide to cooperate from one day to the next never mind for a family photo shoot.

I am here to tell you to stop worrying! I find my natural, reportage approach to family photography is the perfect way to capture all of your personalities and magical family moments, without being asked to sit still.

Here's why you need not to worry.

I go with the flow!

I have endless amounts of practice when it comes to photographing young children. My goal is to allow for your children's personalities to shine through and capture them just being themselves. I completely get that kids will just do their own thing and that sometimes however many times you can ask them to sit for a photograph, they may decide to do the opposite! My main focus is trying to capture your essence as a family and individually.

I've found that particularly children who are aged around 2-3 years old will spend their time running around, exploring and having lots of fun! Who can blame them?! That is all part of their loveliness. Let's stick with capturing this wonderful part of them so not only do you get photographs that capture their essence but also so you don’t forget how you survived such a manic and fun stage!

You're worried your child won't pose for a family photo shoot! It doesn't have to be 'perfect'

If you're looking for a photographer who will photograph you and your family sitting neatly in a group, stiff and facing the camera with no expression - I'm not the photographer for you. However, if you're looking for heartfelt family photos full of expression and personality then book me! I love to capture the energy and character of a family as this is just what I do best. I'm looking for those cheeky faces, lots of giggles and countless kisses and cuddles. These are moments you will cherish forever especially as your children grow up.

I'm interested in capturing personality

I feel the best family photographs are ones that reflect all of your marvellous personalities. It is so amazing to be able to look back and remember your child and all their wonderful characteristics from when they were younger. Children are always growing and changing so allow me to capture this for you. I won’t just capture the smiles… I’m interested in the personality of your children! This could mean them jumping on their beds, cartwheels in the garden, and ice cream running down their face. These will make for some truly magical and unique photos of your loved ones.

A 90-minute photo shoot may feel long to a young child and so I find treats always help! Anything you can do to help keep their engagement is always worth providing.

I want you to be happy!

I want your family photo shoot to be a day to remember! It is so important to me that when you see the photographs further down the line you look back on them with fond memories. The shoot should be about having fun together as a family and enjoying each other's company. I don't want to make things difficult for any parent by demanding that their young child must behave. That is not who I am - I am very easygoing and there to photograph genuine and precious moments. There are no expectations from me, my only wish is that you enjoy yourselves even if it means running around after your 2-year-old. The more unique the better.

I hope this has reassured you and you stop worrying that your child won't pose for a family photo shoot! The photo shoots are exactly what you make of them and what you want them to be. I am there as a bystander as you and your lovely family spend the day having lots of fun with endless giggles and playtime.
